I loved the movie ever since it was released when I was a kid. Love art of racing and this perfectly captures the feeling in it's style. Great to see people talk about it like this now.

The Speed Racer movie drove So that the Netflix One Piece show could sail.

I've always adored speed racer a crazy amount. I've spent so much time trying to get the people on my life to understand why 😭 the movie is genuinely fun to look at for me with all of its cuts, transitions, and people twirling around screen 😂. But also the movie is so well acted and has so much heart it's impossible not to love. Also, I disagree with the idea that spridle is a bad part of the movie. His role is to put Speed in the same spot Rex was, as seen in the scene where Speed attempts to leave, only to be stopped by Pops. I do think that the editing of the scene where Speed and Spridle are at the evil company is done poorly, like Speed is having this intense conversation and we suddenly cut to spridle causing chaos. That was poor editing and a poor decision. However I think he works pretty well into the rest of the movie.

I came here expecting to disagree but you make a bunch of valid points. 1. Megan Fox was horrible as April. Megan Fox is a bad actress in general. But... why didn't they dye her hair? Is it so much to ask? Why is April O'Neil Iconic Redhead A BRUNETTE? I mean you wanna have your sex-icon and make rancid jokes about it even though she has the expressive range of a coconut? OKAY have it your way. BUT AT LEAST PUT HER IN A WIG MAN 2. On the first movie we barely see the turtles and it can get kinda boring 1000%. I came here for the TMNT not to see megan fox making questionable career decisions. 3. In 2014 the designs were a bit too much and didn't look that great. I'm glad they toned it down in 2016. It's not very noticeable but they did clean up their desing (i.e. the missing sunglasses on Raph or the chestplate on Leo) it's subtle but I think they looked so much better on the sequel. And I don't know how they did it but mikey looks less... icky? in the second movie too. Also I'm glad they fixed the creepy eyes, especially Leo's and Raph's, they looked more natural in the sequel. I also really disliked Shredder's suit. WAY TOO MUCH. He looked like a transformer and you can barely tell what's going on, the action scenes are too fast paced and the "extraness" of the armor makes it just a blurr, I cannot appreciate the coreography. All in all, visually, I think they did a much better job in the 2016 movie. ALSO the baby/child turtles looked so weird I hate those, sorry. 4. The Shower Logic. It's TMNT so the sillyness is to be expected. But in these two movies in particular... really, if you give it even the littlest bit of second thought you'll find the entire plot is hanging on by a thread and your willingness to suspend your disbelief. 5. Worst. Casey Jones. EVER. Like get that out of my screen. And I know it's a petty complaint but WHY DOES HE HAVE A BUZZ CUT? AT LEAST give the man his rogueish kinda longish hair!!!! And I cannot stress this ENOUGH but WHY IS HE A COP? And I'm not one to use the word "cringe" but that scene in the police station "I'm gonna be a detective some day" AAAAAHHHH i CRINGE EVERY TIME. 6. I didn't know about the alien turtle warriors from another dimension plot. I mean, I get why people wouldn't want that but I am intrigued. I think it could make a cool instalment of the TMNT. This might be controversial of me but seeing them fight Shredder and Krang again and again and AGAIN is getting a bit old (especially bc let's face it they are the most boring, plain, one-dimensional villains ever. The IDW comics gave them a bit of depth but still). That's part of the charm of Rise for me (it's pretty different and innovative) and in the 2007 movie, the plot was... a choice BUT still a breath of fresh air. Like the source material is nice and cool and we all love it but... I still wish we had a bit more variation from the true and tested XYZ TMNT formula. Speed Racer was recently showing at the IFC in New York. I never thought I'd ever have an opportunity to re-experience it on the big screen like the first time I saw it as a kid.

I think Ice Age should just be rebooted. I remember watching the Ice Age movies as a kid and actually seeing Ice Age 4: Continental Drift in theaters when I was between 5 & 6 years old while also having an poster of the new movie as well.

One of my favorite videos on RUclips is the final race of the movie with eurobeat edited in. Its glorious.

One last thing, the finale is the one of the most moving, poetic, and thrill inducing endings I have ever seen in 30 years of watching movies. From Speed " hearing" the car, and jump starting it into a sick drift, the montage of everything he has been through and those he met, while litterally turning the race itself into a work of art like his mother told him he was capable of. I have no shame saying Every time i see this finale, I get chills, tears down my cheeks, and a satisfied smile.

I've seen both positive and negative reviews of this film. And I feel the positives outweigh the negatives. First, the movie was given the worst release date, having to compete with Ironman and The Dark Knight releasing weeks between each other. 2nd The color use is phenomenal and sucks you in. 3rd while I've heard complaints about the rapid cuts, People don't understand that is the point, this film is all about SPEED (Pun Intended 😜) so the rapid cuts are showing the fast paced world and I also think it's just how Speed Racer perceives the world. Like he said, when he's in a car going fast everything in the world just makes sense.

I think the reason TMNT 2014 was a success, and the sequel wasn’t. Was probably because the 2014 version was more darker like the first film, even though really it has a lot of issues and problems.

Saw this when it came out, i was like 9. It was cool as shit, had the video game that tied in with it on the wii

They needed a better director. If Michael Bay could do what he did for Transformers, someone could do the same for Power Rangers. The cast was amazingly picked. It should have either started with them already being the Power Rangers, like the first movie, and then done a prequel later, or they should have already been friends and gone on a 'hero’s journey' together, with Zordon being like Yoda, so to speak. No offense, but individually showing all the characters resulted in 1) terrible pacing and 2) too much screen time for a franchise called Power Rangers. As mentioned, it felt like The Breakfast Club with Power Rangers only at the end. If they never got their powers, it would still have been an okay movie.

Honestly I’d hire you to make a Power Rangers movie but with a couple catches. 1. I’d want to work with you on the script of the story. 2. I’d be giving only $75M dollars for the production budget so I can save up another $75M for marketing 3. You would have to do it the Christopher Nolan Style, meaning No CGI. And I’d give you from May 9th, 2025 to September 7th, 2025 to film and the rest of September all the way up to November 14th, for reshoots. And the film would have to come out on this release date: June 4th, 2026.

Growing up and loving speedracer in the 70s…this movie was AWFUL AND SO DISAPPOINTING.

I don't feel like you should call them the Watchowski Sisters, I believe they were still both men at the time of the movie's creation. I also wouldnt say that Pops Racer said anything anti-Capitalist as the Racer Motors Company is a capitalist idea, maybe anti-corporation is a better fit.

Speed racers vibe goes good for a double feature with Batman or ironman...maybe even all three. Start with speed then ironman and let the kids sleep so you can get adult in Gotham. It's a vibe. I like it

I’m from Argentina, so I saw the movie in Spanish. Recently, I wondered how the dialogue at 22:10 was in English, and now I see... at least I didn’t get the joke. I have to say, in Spanish it was funny because: Trixie: ¿Eso era un ninja? Dad: Más bien una NIÑA Translated: Trixie: Was that a ninja? Dad: More like a little girl But NIÑA and NINJA sound similar in Spanish, so the joke is funnier. I love that this movie is being revisited now. I loved it when it came out.
